Lego movie stole pretty much everything from the Matrix and other movies and characters.
Todorov's narrative theory-
Equilibrium-
The equilibrium within the theory is that the main character (Emmet) is a normal everyday guy as he is a normal working man who works as a builder, who pays crazy amounts for a cup of coffee replicating starbucks or costa coffee. He is also portrayed as an everyday guy but he's actually an extraordinary being who holds the key to saving the world. "everything is awesome"
Disruption-
The disruption is when Emmet gets a piece of resistance attached to his back, this means he has to do a lot of challenges and do a lot of quests to be able to go to the resistance.
Emmet learns he has to become a "master builders".
Emmet also has to dedicate all his time to becoming a super master builder because he was 'chosen' to have the piece of resistance attached to his back.
Resolutions-
The resolutions was to spend all his time doing challenges and quests to get the piece of resistance off his back and return the resistance. Another resolution was becoming a master builder and saving the world seen as though he was the chosen one and had a piece of resistance attached to his back. He also gets the girl he likes.
New equilibrium-
The new equilibrium would be that Emmet saved the world and also became a matter builder. Although he did kind of go back to his life which was full of overpriced coffee and the song "everything is awesome".
