There are three sections of the Family Target Audience: kids who like Lego, parents of children and young cinema goers.
Explain how the Lego Movie appeals to each of them using the following areas:
- Characters
- Narrative
- Settings
- Themes
The characters appeal to the audience because they each have their own different personality's and traits not to mention how easy the characters make the story line easy to follow for the children.
They appeal to both children and adults because the Lego Movie is similar to the film the Matrix and this would be an attraction for adults.
The narrative is full of action. There are various different roles and each is individual and unique in which there are villain's and hero's. The main characters all meet throughout the film and there is the typical 'Hero/Villain' plot with the sidekicks and helpers.
The settings vary throughout the play. As you can see when Emmett was being a regular workman minding his own business and carrying on with his daily life, and ending with Emmett saving the world, which would be exciting specifically for younger children.
The general theme of the Lego Movie is action and comedy, the film goes in and out of real life, giving the impression of someone playing with the Lego or the film being a figure of a characters imagination.
What methods did they use to PROMOTE the Lego Movie and how did it target the different parts of the target audience? You should talk about the following methods:
- Poster Campaign
- TV Advertising
- Film Trailers
- Social Media
- Merchandise
The PR company used a lot of different promotion methods to promote the Lego movie. One of the main ones was Poster Campaigns, which was multiple posters of close ups of a main character. These would have been put in shops and busy business places where people could see them easily but also online.
They also used TV Advertising, for example ITV aired a dedicated commercial break where all the adverts were made out of Lego these adverts were maily aimed at adults therefore it would've grabbed the adults attention as it was aired on ITV in the evening when families would gather together to watch things on the tv.
Film trailers would've been another way of promoting the film. They would have been on YouTube, aired on tv commercial breaks and when people would be in the cinema watching another film. These would have been most effective as it gives you a teaser of the film itself to give viewers a general idea of what the film is about, and put in the best parts of the film, without spoiling anything.
Social media posts are all generally aimed at adults because social media is only really used by older children (teens) and adults.
Merchandise would have appeared in stores, children would have seen it and grabbed their attention, bringing the Lego Movie to home and it becoming a household name.
Good - you are keeping on top of your revision. TARGET:
ReplyDeleteQ1: Make more specific references to more characters, not just Emmet e.g. what they are called, what they look like, how they stereotype a certain group of people etc. then explain who they represent in the audience and why they will attract this group.
Q2: Make sure you explain that the Lego advert break was a world first - this would have attracted people and free press which in turn would have attracted even more people.
